Why you´ll love mango chia yogurt:
- it will take you just up to 10 minutes to make it
- it contains only 4 main ingredients
- it contains no refined sugar
- you can eat it as breakfast or dessert
- it is healthy and delicious
For this recipe you will need:
- Mango- your mango should be as ripe as possible for two reasons. Firstly, the riper your mango is, the less additional sweetener you will have to use. Secondly, as the mango ripens it gets softer and that will make your pureeing job much easier.
- Yogurt- for this recipe, you can use whichever yogurt you prefer. I used plain low-fat yogurt because I wanted for this recipe to be lower in calories. But, you can also use full-fat Greek yogurt if you prefer.
- Chia seeds- I used plain black chia seeds. However, white chia seeds would work equally well.
- Coconut sugar- I love coconut sugar and the flavor it brings to this recipe, but you can use any other sweetener of your choice. You can even use liquid sweeteners like honey or maple syrup. If you do so, just make sure you adjust the amount of chia seeds.
- Lemon zest- lemon zest complements the mango flavor very nicely, but you can also replace it with orange zest or omit it completely. Just make sure that you are using bio lemons/oranges!
- Nuts- I went for almonds in this recipe. The reason for that is very simple- I had them at home. You definitely wouldn´t go wrong with using any other kind of nuts.
Why is this Mango chia yogurt a real little nutritious bomb?
- Mango- mango is packed with vitamins, minerals and fibers. It is known to improve gut health, control blood sugar levels, and help with weight loss. If you want to know more about the benefits of this superfood, read here
- Yogurt-yogurt contains a lot of calcium, vitamin B, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, and a lot of other vitamins and minerals essential for humans. Other than that it is also high in protein and low in calories (depends on the type of yogurt, of course). It is a good choice of food to introduce to your diet plan if you want to lose weight, but still supply your body with all important nutrients
- Chia seeds-there is a reason why these small seeds fall into the category of “superfoods”. They are full of vitamins, minerals, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants.
